Young Adult & Teen Therapist in California.
Hi, I’m Maddi.
Ready to figure out this adulting stuff?
Right now you might be feeling overwhelmed as you try to keep up with the never ending to-do list, make time for self-care, have a social life and figure out what you want to do with your life (no pressure or anything). You may feel like you should be able to handle things better and you’re doubting yourself and your ability to take on all this adulthood stuff.
The truth? It’s totally natural to feel overwhelmed, scared, and to doubt yourself. Adulting is hard, and I can help you.
How do I approach therapy?
My approach to therapy is a joint effort, meaning that you and I are going to work together to figure out what’s going on and what we can do to make it better. I’m not that therapist that’s going to show up in my cardigan with my notepad, and just nod and smile while you do all the talking. Absolutely not! I’m the therapist that’s going to brainstorm with you, ask you the tough questions, and collaborate with you to create a plan to implement realistic solutions that are going to help you feel more relaxed and in control.
Together we will talk, laugh, cry and celebrate every small victory as you prepare to move into your future feeling confident and empowered. Trust the therapy process, as I’m a believer that no matter where you start, you’ll always end up exactly where you’re meant to be. For you, that’s a strong, capable adult ready to take on the world with confidence! We got this!
What’s it like working with me?
Working with me means you get to show up exactly as you are.
This means:
You can wear sweats and slippers, or dress up in a super cute outfit and rock those heels that have been collecting dust in your closet.
You can prepare bullet points of what you want to talk about, or our session may start off talking about pizza and end up diving deep into your childhood. Either way, I’ll help you through it.
You can wrap up in a comfy blanket and enjoy a snack while we talk, or you can treat yourself to a delicious cupcake after session to reward yourself for going to therapy because let’s face it, therapy is hard work and you deserve a treat always.
And fur babies are welcome to attend with you on Zoom, as you may even see a cameo of my husky every now and then.
Please show up, exactly as you are, and we will figure out the rest together.
We got this!
Still not sure about this whole therapy thing?
Look, I know that committing to therapy can be hard, especially since you don’t know me and you may not know much about therapy either.
Let’s throw out the word “therapy” for a minute and just focus on what the process looks like. In this process you have two people who come together in a shared space to collaborate, talk, and learn new things. We both get to show up as ourselves and share space together to try and make sense of things in your life, to work through challenges you’re having, and to create a plan that will help you release that anxiety and build confidence.
Am I the right therapist for you?
So now you’re like, okay I can give this therapy thing a try, but why should I pick Maddi? While of course I could write a whole page about my training and education, I think the biggest piece that has helped me become the therapist I am today is lived experience.
I understand on a personal level what it’s like to be labeled as an “adult” and yet feel like you have no idea what you’re supposed to be doing. Or sometimes you know what you’re supposed to do, but you just can’t seem to actually do the things. I know what it’s like to doubt yourself, to feel insecure and to have so many questions racing through your mind, but be too afraid to ask them because you feel like you should already know the answers. It took me a long time to realize, adults don’t know all the answers and many times they don’t have it all together…. and that’s okay.
